We recommend... Recommendations for improving your English (1)

This month of October, the first year students of Administration and Finance want to make some suggestions about different ways in which we can improve our English level and also recommendations about living a little more eco-friendly life.

Here we have the recommendations of Wendy, Valentina, Samantha and Maikol:

LEARN PRONUNCIATION AND VOCABULARY

STEPS:

  • Choose your favorite song or one that the lyrics are easy

  • Listen to the song and sing it with the lyrics. Try to learn the pronunciation.

  • When you already know the song from top to bottom, look for the translation and sing it again at the same time while you're looking at the translation.

  • Another tip, when you have an advanced English level, you can try to imitate other accents or learn the slang with different singers.

You can start with this singers:

Bruno Mars - Count On Me

Adele - Rolling in the Deep

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe

(The idea is to choose one song that lyrics are so so easy)

Ideas for an advance English level:

  • Eminem

  • Nicky Minaj

  • Avril Lavigne - Complicated

MOVIES AND SERIES

  • Watch the movie/serie in Spanish with subtitles in English

  • Rewatch them now both the audio and subtitles in English

  • Examples

    • Friends

    • Phineas and Ferb

    • Finding Nemo

    • Comedy romantic movies (the proposal, clueless, 50 first days, leap year…)

BOOKS

The majority of us knows all the basic tales so it's more easy to understand

*Write the vocabulary that you don't understand with the translation*

  • The three little pigs

  • The little prince

  • Pinocchio

  • Little red riding hood

I'm going to recommend this book:

  • Good luck (Alex Rovira - Fernando Trias) Good luck doesn’t just come your way—it’s up to you to create the conditions to bring yourself good luck.

LABEL YOUR HOUSE ITEMS:

you need to put the name of the item in english and if you want, you can add the translation in Spanish. You can also do it with another language if you want to improve both of them, for example: English and Italian or English and french.
