We receive Japanese visitors!!

The International Trade 1 class received Japanese visitors who are interested in investing in Spain.
The different companies created in the class received them and explained their business ideas to them in a meeting.

This is how the different groups describe their experience:

"We presented our idea, it's called Find a mess and it's an app where you can find the best night club. We didn't have difficulties doing the project but we were very nervous presenting it because we were the first group. We learned how to do a formal meeting and greeting to the clients.
We enjoyed doing the tour around Madrid for the Japanese and the advertisement video.
Nuria, Natascha, Javier López, Javier Ruiz y Renzo."

Our group learned that food really helps with communication with people from other countries and makes the environment relax, we also learned that breaking the ice and talking for a little bit before starting the presentation is a great idea. We realised that music makes young people have a good time together.

Mussic Festival: Sergio Suárez, María José Páez, Nacho López and Alex Ilea

We presented Moveat.
We think that experience was a good way to improve the communications in front of investors.
We presented our project and we could learnt about how defend our ideas.
Our company is about diferent foods healthy , traditional ...
We have important values about the ecosistem and environment.
Change your mind.
-Moveat.

Good morning!
We are Stephany hernandez, Sandra Jordá, Álvaro Martínez and Antonio González (helped us on the presentation).
First, we put in common all the ideas that we had and it was difficult to choose one because we all had very good ideas and we wanted to put them all, but at the end we mixed the ideas and 21stuff was the result.
Then we distributed the work and helped each other to do the Power Point and the video.
In conclusion, we liked this project and doing this way because its an educational material and its more easy for us working this way.

21 stuff is an app where you can find all kinds of things, the purpose of this app is, if you are looking for something, have a support where look many products to post the people, and if you like that, have the opportunity to buy that, to buy all types of products.
We like to work in that app because are our, we think about or app and we have managed to create it as we wanted to help each other and contributing ideas

Fair Trade companies

Our Transport and Logistics class worries about fair commercial relationships that promote fair working conditions and a commitment with the environment. To do so, we decided to import fairtrade products from different countries in the world to start distributing them in Europe.

These are some of our companies:

Fair trade Mango is a ready to eat and ideal healthy snack for everyone. We want to boost the consumption of this great fruit and to support it's fair trade in many different countries, such as South Asia and South America ones.

We are a company which only works with Fair Trade products; that means, that we care about workers conditions and environment.

We produce avocados in Springfield Farm in Pretoria, South Africa.

Our customers are all (super)markets aware of Fair Trade and good quality at the best price.

Hello! Our business is distributing Fairtrade coffee from Congo.
We offer high quality coffee at a good price. We are  a responsible organization with the environment and to mark the difference  by helping to build a sustainable world.

When our customers taste the products, they can’t stop speaking  about them.

We have an agreement with the brazilian company ABICAB to import chocolate from Brazil to Europe.

We distribute in Spain and Switzerland, in the companies Milka, Nestle and Lindt.

The cacao is an antioxidant, it is rich in fat, fiber, magnesium, vitamin b and zinc.

Shopping in Madrid 2018

In the EP Javeriana we were analysing different High Streets around the world, so we decided to go window shopping to four of them in Madrid: Preciados, Serrano, Goya and Fuencarral.

We also did some research on the English language used by taking pictures of the signs we found. After processing the information, the different groups presented it to the class and we debated on the use of English for Marketing and Publicity.

"Our conclusion is that businesses are interested in tourists as they use everyday English signs to catch their attention. All the globalization let us think about how interested we have to be in learning  English. The use of English also make all businesses have the appearance of being more international"

"It was a very cool experience. We could see various types of shops with various English signs on them while exploring this street. We learnt the tipe of vocabulary used in clothing and jewelry shops"

"The signs in English are in chain stores (because all the stores are similar, it doesn't matter the ubication). In little stores there aren't many things in English. We have learnt that the main language of Marketing is English."

Business is fun: Shopping in Madrid

In the EP Javeriana, Business is fun: 5 teams visited different Shopping areas in Madrid and took pictures of the signs they could find in English. The tweeted the information and then analysed the language used. They presented their results to the class. This is Group’s 3 presentation. They visited Serrano and this is what Mario Marín writes about his experience working on the project:

“With the work "Shopping in Madrid" we've learnt that it's very important to have commercials and announcements in English so they can attract and seek the attention of the clients, visitors, tourists, or people who come from abroad. For example the announcement of new season clothes, or a new 50% off on sales... it was a very good experience working on this and surely I'd repeat it!!!”

Business is fun: Online Shop

In the EP Javeriana, Business is fun and we work on different projects during the School year. Online Shop is one of the favourite ones. The different teams launch a new business by developing an online shop. To sell globally, the website needs to be in English, of course!

The group with David Crespo, Nayelly Lara, Leila Maujo and Miguel del Villar launched Wine&Box. This is what David Crespo writes about their project:

"We think that wine is one of the most famous drinks of our country, and we think on that about how we can sell this product in an original package, so in our website you can choose a popular wine, a different type of box, and you can personalize the box and the stickers as you like. I mean, if it's Saint Valentine's Day, you can create your own box personalised or choose a special creation, you can give as a present.

We offer you three different types of wine: red wine, pink wine and white wine. In these three types of wine, you can choose your perfect election with three different prices. High Price, Medium Price and cheap. We adapt to our customers.

In this project, we needed to be a group more than ever in the course, because we wanted a very great work: we needed a great website, but we also needed a great pitch for sell our product on the presentation for the class, and personally, I really enjoy it.

What did we learn?

In this project, we learnt a lot about how difficult is to have a novel idea and put it into operation. First we were thinking about the idea, after that we split for some to make the design of the web in an attractive way, we had to look for various types of wines and boxes, perform a return policy and even a list of frequently asked questions. Finally, we created a slogan to present the brand and look for an attractive way to present our website.

You can visit our website by clicking on the picture:" We hope you like it!

EP Xavier launches Business is fun: Shopping in Valencia

Good news! When we presented in the teacher’s meet in Galapagar our experience implementing the BEDA Programme, the E.P. Xavier decided to launch some of our Business is fun projects in their classes.

We were really excited with the idea and started exchanging materials. Asunción Esteso adapted the project with lots of enthusiasm and the Students of the Commercial Activities Degree really got involved in the activity.  The result: a wonderful Shopping in Valencia project.

The challenge: finding out if Valencia’s commercial area is oriented to tourism. The students visited the city centre area taking pictures of the signs they found in different languages and analysed the information afterwards.

Asunción Esteso, the teacher who ran the project, says: “We enjoyed the activity very much. Thanks for sharing it! It is a different approach to English that increases motivation and communication”. You can read a more extensive reflection on her experience on EP. Xavier's blog.

CONGRATULATIONS from E.P. Javeriana to the students that participated in the project and of course, to Asunción for the initiative and for sharing all the materials with us. You did a great job!

We are just posting a sample of the student’s work but you can read the whole document by clicking on the image. Please do, it is very interesting!!

"We made this work because we wanted to know if Valencia is a city oriented to tourism. The purpose of this work is to take photos of what we consider shops oriented to tourists. We assess the written signs in different languages.

Valencia is a very multicultural city, in special it is oriented to northern Europe tourists. The majority of tourists are British, Dutch and Germans, but there are also Japaneses and Italians, so we can find that in most of the shops, English is widely used and we can see some signals written in Italian also.

Here we have a cardboard where we can see a typical British menu oriented to that kind of tourists, It was located near Plaza la Virgen and it was surprisingly successful.

As you can see in that panel there are mixed words in both languages, Spanish and English so local people and everyone that speaks English can understand what kind of food they are offering.

It’s very important to local shops owners to find a way to communicate with those clients because they can mean an important income for their economy in a city oriented to tourism as Valencia. In the last photo as you can see it doesn’t take much effort to write the words “fast food” but it has a powerful impact in people that speak English.

BEDA BEST PRACTICES FORUM: CONCLUSION

A great experience!! I really loved presenting “Business is fun” to English teachers. It was so great having the opportunity to launch the challenge and see all the teachers working on it in English. I have to say they did a great job generating ideas on a Saturday morning J. What they liked most: adapting the materials, the patent form, entrepreuning in English, and using storyboardthat.

In the end we agreed: Business is fun!

Thank you BEDA for the opportunity!!! For more information click to see the Twitter momento

This is our commercial story board:

We learned to work in group with limit time and have a nice project. It´s been a challenge for us and we achieved the challenge.”

Smart suitcase

"This was an interesting project, we think that the people need a smartsuitcase in their trips.

The suitcase has a GPS, you can charge your mobile phone, you can listen music and many more things.

We have enjoyed it, we are happy with our group, we have learnt work in team and it flowed out.

Would you like to watch our commercial?"

MBS (Modern Blind Stick)

"This product is for blind or blind-deaf people.
It has a GPS incorporated, that help you walk soundly.
You can use the vibration mode if it's more helpful.
It's made of silicone and metal.

We learned that if we have not too much time, working in group is much better because we have more ideas and we are more efficient.
We’re happy working on our product because it could be helpful to handicapped people giving them independence."

Apps for Good - KEEP TRAINING!

Juanma López Iturriaga concluded: For the ones who won, “keep training”, and for the ones who didn’t win “keep training”.

But in the end WE ALL WON! It was such an incredible experience being there, in the Fundación Endesa Apps for Good Festival, that we all felt that was our price.

Our three finalist Apps: Healthy Scan, Recarga ya and Simple Life were presented in the Market Place and two of the groups had the opportunity to do the elevator pitch. All the three groups made a great job presenting the apps to all the authorities and potential investors and were really professional and communicative. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!

Business is fun: Apps for good

This has been an exciting week at the Escuela Profesional Javeriana: we launched our project "Apps for good" in the Administration Assistant class. The teacher’s team have been doing the training and working on the planning for about two months and we were ready to implement it.

But you probably wonder what Apps for good is… this is how Rodrigo Baggio, CDI Apps for Good, Founding Chairman & Founder CDI Global describes it:

“Our goal is to transform the way technology is taught in schools; to empower students from all backgrounds to seize the opportunities of our digital age and create solutions to the problems they care about, using technology”.
