Erasmus+ Internationalization Visit to the Netherlands

In May, a group of teachers went on an Erasmus+ internationalisation visit to the Netherlands, where we visited colleagues at Vista College Sittard.

The programme was intense, inspiring, and carefully designed to promote the exchange of best practices in vocational education, innovation, and international collaboration.

With them, we visited STC school in Rotterdam, where we explored cutting-edge maritime and logistics training closely connected to real industry practice.

We also had the opportunity to visit the Port of Rotterdam—the largest port in Europe—where we could see first-hand the enormous vessels and complex logistics operations that we had previously only seen in documentaries. It was a truly impressive and eye-opening experience.

Another key stop was Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, where we learned about their innovative, challenge-based learning model and the use of portfolios as a tool for assessment, reflection, and competence development.

We also gained valuable insights into strong education–industry collaboration through visits such as Abbott Vascular and GITO, where innovation, entrepreneurship, and real-world learning are deeply embedded in the educational experience.

Overall, the visit was an excellent opportunity to  exchange ideas, make contacts, and bring back fresh perspectives to our school. We are hopeful that the connections established during this experience will soon develop into new collaborative projects for both students and teachers.

Inés is the first Dietetics student in 9 years to do her traineeship abroad. She is in Ireland doing some work in a Microbiology lab. She is enjoying it very much!

Finally, Till, also from the Marketing and Advertising degree, is in Lisbon, helping with the social media channels of a small company.

We will wait for they return in June so they can tell us all about their experiences and what they have learnt both professionally and personaly.
