Erasmus+ Internationalization Visit to the Netherlands

In May, a group of teachers went on an Erasmus+ internationalisation visit to the Netherlands, where we visited colleagues at Vista College Sittard.

The programme was intense, inspiring, and carefully designed to promote the exchange of best practices in vocational education, innovation, and international collaboration.

With them, we visited STC school in Rotterdam, where we explored cutting-edge maritime and logistics training closely connected to real industry practice.

We also had the opportunity to visit the Port of Rotterdam—the largest port in Europe—where we could see first-hand the enormous vessels and complex logistics operations that we had previously only seen in documentaries. It was a truly impressive and eye-opening experience.

Another key stop was Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, where we learned about their innovative, challenge-based learning model and the use of portfolios as a tool for assessment, reflection, and competence development.

We also gained valuable insights into strong education–industry collaboration through visits such as Abbott Vascular and GITO, where innovation, entrepreneurship, and real-world learning are deeply embedded in the educational experience.

Overall, the visit was an excellent opportunity to  exchange ideas, make contacts, and bring back fresh perspectives to our school. We are hopeful that the connections established during this experience will soon develop into new collaborative projects for both students and teachers.

🌍 Internationalisation at EP Javeriana: Always on the Way! 🚀

This school year, our Internationalization team has been working hard to open more doors and create new opportunities for our students to explore the world.

We are very happy with our results, specially because it was our first time working on our Finspain #TIB project (with our Finish partners) face to face  doing Erasmus+ mobilities for a week with a group of students.

We first received a Finnish group of students for a week in Madrid and then we had the opportunity to visit them in Oulu.

We’ve also hosted teachers from Latvia, and welcomed students and staff from France.

Our students have worked, shared and learnt alongside international peers. Many have also completed their Erasmus+ work internships in countries like Poland, Hungary, and Ireland—gaining real-world experience and unforgettable memories.

We’ve also launched virtual exchanges with the Netherlands, exploring different vocational education systems and sharing classroom experiences. Step by step, we're making international mobility part of our everyday school life.

Our students say participating in these International Projects has broaden their minds and help them grow as people and as professionals.

We believe international experiences are key to shaping future professionals—and we’re committed to making them available to more students every year. Because at EP Javeriana, we’re Always on the Way! 🌟

Connecting classrooms: our first videoconference with Vista College

Last week, our students had their very first online exchange with students from Vista College in the Netherlands—and what an experience it was!

After a short introduction from the teachers, we jumped into breakout rooms where students from both schools introduced themselves, shared fun facts, and presented their schools. From Transport and Logistics to International Trade, it was clear we had a lot to talk about!

The atmosphere was very friendly, and despite the nerves, everyone managed to communicate confidently in English. There were even a few laughs when we discovered some surprising things we had in common.

"It was great to see our English being used in a real context, and even better to connect with people our age from another country. We’re already looking forward to the next session!"

Stay tuned for more updates from this exciting project 🌍✈️

EP Javeriana visits OSAO in Oulu, Finland

In March, a group of 12 students and 2 teachers from EP Javeriana packed their bags and headed North — way North! Our destination? Oulu, Finland to visit our friends from OSAO! ❄️

This was our first international trip as a group, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we landed, our Finnish hosts at OSAO made us feel completely welcome. We shared classes, worked on joint projects, visited local companies… and even got to experience a real Finnish sauna (yes, we jumped into ice hole!)

It was very interesting to get a real experience in Finnish education system. Our students participated in their Hackathon project (Problem Based Learning methodology) integrated in mixed groups. The solutions our 8 teams proposed to the real companies challenges were very creative and helpful. Congratulations!

But we also made amazing memories: bowling together, slipping on icy sidewalks, and admiring the Northern Lights in the sky walking on the frozen sea.

Most of all, this trip helped us grow as people and as professionals. We stepped out of our comfort zones, practiced our English and deepen our friendship with our Finnish colleagues.

We’re already dreaming about the next exchange! Watch our video to find out more about it.💫

FINSPAIN TIB: THREE SCHOOL YEARS WORKING TOGETHER

A couple of weeks ago we experienced the third year of the FINSPAIN TIB project between the students and teachers of OSAO and Javerianas School.  This was the first time that we could meet in person but this project has been developing and evolutioning over the last 3 years.

I've been fortunate enough to see it since the very first time, it consisted of online meets evolving the development of joint projects between some of the students at their school and us. It was very well planned and executed by the teachers of both schools but of course improving of the first year and optimizing every part of the experience.

This year the project evolved a lot as the project is now presential for the students both of Spain and Finland, first they came to Madrid in late November and then it is turn for us to go there at early march. This is a huge step for the connection between the schools that is very much enjoyed and appreciated by all the people involved. Following the latest visit of the finnish and the activities done, we can say that the project is growing exponentially and can be an amazing learning opportunity for both parts. We are proud that we were part of this and hope it continues like this, getting better every year!!

LAST YEAR ONLINE EXPERIENCE:
We worked online on two different sessions, the first one was to get to know eachother and the second one, each group of students presented a project they were working on in class:

Session 1

In the first session, we presented ourselves to the Finnish students explaining some characteristics of our country, city and school. Then we talked in more detail about our class, International Trade Year 1 and our experiences during the course. Also, the Finnish students explained to us about Finland and their school, OSAO.

Session 2

In the second session of FINSPAIN, we worked on our “Shopping in Madrid” project, that talked about all the different commercial areas all over around our city. We started with research, dividing ourselves into 5 different groups to explore those areas and gather information and pictures. Later on we built a presentation based on that information and showed it to our Finnish friends before having them show us their business project. It was a very fun project that required everyone's full cooperation and ended up being a huge success.
